St. Michael's N.S.
We are heading towards the end of the school year, and what a year it was!
My first year as Principal of Holycross National School was certainly an eventful one - there were new teachers and new children, a subject inspection, a new Board of Management, highs and lows, ups and downs and all topped off with a Global Pandemic! One thing is for sure - working in a school is never boring.
As we head into the last few weeks of school I would like to let you know what we are doing in the school over these few weeks and over the Summer.
We are replacing the carpets in three of our classrooms and putting carpet in the main office. We are getting the whole school deep cleaned so that it is fresh for when we all return for classes. Some teachers are changing classes and classrooms are changing. I am moving office and there are lots more things happening over the Summer.
Below you will find the proposed calendar for next year (subject to change according to directives from the Government) and the list of classes and class teachers. There is also a guide to what classes will be in what rooms next year.
As you know, we do not know for sure what school is going to look like next year, but we will keep you updated when we hear from the Department of Education and our Patron body.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of each and every child in our school and how they have adapted to using google classroom - the creativity, enthusiasm and engagement with the new online platform has been incredible to see.
I would like to thank the parents for facilitating their children's learning at home in the most unprecedented of times and for being so positive towards our school in what can only be described as extremely challenging and difficult situations.
The staff here at St. Michael's National School are exceptional. They have risen to every challenge that has been thrown at them with grace, good humour and care for the children at heart. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.
We have had some queries regarding book lists for the coming school year. We are working on finalising these and will email parents with the book lists for their children as soon as possible.
The book rental scheme will run as normal for the coming school year from 1st to 6th Classes. We will be in touch via email regarding book rental scheme as well.
